The wind howled outside, rattling the old windows as Sarah crept down the dim hallway. Shadows danced on the walls, twisting and stretching like fingers reaching for her. She paused at the cracked door of the attic, a low whisper spilling through the gap. “Help me…” it pleaded, a voice unmistakably her sister’s, lost for ten years. Heart racing, Sarah pushed the door open. The air turned frigid, and cobwebs clung to her skin like icy fingers. As she stepped inside, the whisper transformed into a guttural laugh, echoing around her. “You shouldn’t have come back…” Darkness swallowed her scream.
